The largest bottle of champagne typically purchased is the 3 liters bottle named Jeroboam which holds 4 bottles. However, larger bottles like the 12 liter named the Balthazar can be purchased through websites such as FinestWine.com and will cost you a little over a grand. Large bottles of champagne have been popularized by big celebrations. They have become a tradition of many events such as the Formula Grand Prix, during which the winner’s circle gets sprayed by a large, generally a 3 liters bottle of the bubbly beverage. Large format bottles are produced by only a select bunch of proprietors such as Drappier (30liters).
